The Red Door School provides a child centred, evidence based education for students on the Autism Spectrum.
We endeavour to work collaboratively with parents, local community, and staff to provide a caring, positive, and enriching learning environment where each individual is treated with dignity and respect.
The Red Door School provides an inclusive environment where all students develop independence, through an individualised approach to both educational and personal development. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is child-centred and evidence based to all pupils, taking into consideration individual learning styles, in addition to, individual needs and abilities.
The Red Door School was one of Ireland's first pilot schools where Individual Education Programs were provided under the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis. Founded by the Learning Centre for Autistic Children and starting in 2001, the school moved to its current Monkstown location in 2009. In 2010, The Red Door School joined with six other pilot ABA schools under the patronage of Autism Ireland. In 2011 The Red Door School came under the direction of the Department of Education and Skills as a recognised Special School.
Starting in January 2017 and completing in January 2018 The Red Door school underwent a Whole School Evaluation Process as part of the process to achieve permanent recognition from The Department of Education and Skills. Following a positive Follow Up report in 2018 the school achieved permanent recignition as a Special School and were sanctioned to expand with the addition of 2 infant ASD classes in September 2018.
Further to this the Department of Education and Skills have agreed to the redevelopment of our school by replacing our current prefabs on our campus. This is in the planning and development phase at the moment and members of the school community will be updated throughout the process.
